Jardines del Real Sitio and La Granja de San Ildefonso

El Palacio de la Granja is located an hour from Madrid and a few kilometers from Segovia, one of the buildings of National Heritage, who ordered up the King Philip V and the birthplace of the father of King D. Juan Carlos (Juan de Borbón). Construction began between 1720 and 1723 and was ultimately destined for retirement of Philippe de Bourbon (duke of Anjou).

In the year 1724 was officially summer residence of Philip V, while later, the king’s death was the official residence of the monarch’s widow, Elizabeth Farnese.

Other kingdoms like that of Charles III and Ferdinand VII also stayed at the Palacio de la Granja, and even Alfonso XIII, until 1918 when a fire destroyed the private rooms. Los Jardines del Real Sitio and La Granja de San Ildefonso, you can visit from 10:00 am until 18:00 in winter or 21:00 in summer, with free entry to the gardens.
